Teacher Scholarships

Because of the long Covid lockdown, which required not only the cancellation of last year’s in-person Lincoln Forum but also the suspension of so much in-school learning, the Forum will not launch a competition for 2021 teacher and student scholarships. Instead, we plan to honor the 2020 scholarship winners at the 2021 Forum at Gettysburg. The scholarships will resume in 2022.

Each November, The Lincoln Forum awards four scholarships to educators currently teaching U.S. History in an elementary, middle, or high school in the United States.  Teachers of other curricular areas will be considered if they can demonstrate how their work connects with the study of Abraham Lincoln.

This scholarship covers the cost of registration for our annual symposium held in Gettysburg during November, three nights lodging and group meals at the Wyndham Hotel, and travel reimbursement.  All applications must be received on or before June 30 of this year.

Applicants must submit the following materials:

  • A completed application which can be downloaded from the link below.

  • An essay of 500 words or less, explaining your interest in Lincoln, why you want to attend our symposium and how it will help you teach your classes.

Application materials should be sent to:
