Student Scholarships

IMPORTANT UPDATE:

Because of the long Covid lockdown, which required not only the cancellation of last year’s in-person Lincoln Forum but also the suspension of so much in-school learning, the Forum will not launch a competition for 2021 teacher and student scholarships. Instead, we plan to honor the 2020 scholarship winners at the 2021 Forum at Gettysburg. The scholarships will resume in 2022.

The Lincoln Forum Student Scholarships program recognizes outstanding elementary and high school students who have demonstrated academic and extracurricular excellence as well as an interest in the life and career of Abraham Lincoln and the Civil War. A few students from across the country will be selected to attend the annual meeting of the Lincoln Forum, to be held in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, each November.

This scholarship covers the cost of registration for our annual symposium held in Gettysburg during November, three nights lodging and group meals at the Wyndham Hotel, and travel reimbursement for the student and one parent or legal guardian. All applications must be received on or before July 31 of this year.

Applicants must submit the following materials:

  • A letter (2-3 pages) outlining the student's interest in Abraham Lincoln and why he or she would like to attend the Lincoln Forum meeting

  • A letter of recommendation from an applicant's teacher

Application materials should be sent to:
